A coalition led by Reloop has expressed serious concern over emerging discussions to reopen the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) within the forthcoming Environmental Simplification Package and has submitted a joint letter to Executive Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné and Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall.
As a central pillar of Europe’s circular economy framework, the PPWR provides the certainty required to drive long-term investment in circular infrastructure across the Single Market.
Any move to revisit this legislation, even for seemingly limited adjustments, risks generating uncertainty, slowing progress and jeopardising the EU’s ambition to double circular material use by 2030.
Our joint letter calls on the European Commission to upload the agreed political commitment and maintain the stability needed to achieve Europe’s circular economy ambitions.
