Beverage sales by container type in Portugal

In Portugal, sales of beverages in metal cans have stayed relatively flat, but there is a clear downward trend in refillable glass. In 2000, refillable glass was the most prevalent type of container used for beverage packaging, with 1.8 billion units sold. Since then, sales have decreased by 60%. Increasingly, refillable glass is being replaced by non-refillable glass and PET containers, which currently have a combined market share of about 72%.
