Momentum is building. By 2027, more than 70 jurisdictions are expected to be operating schemes, extending coverage to approximately 644 million people, representing a 79% increase in just two years. This growth is underpinned by sustained public backing.
Over 200 opinion polls conducted between 2003 and 2025 consistently report high levels of support for new, existing, and expanded deposit systems, giving governments added confidence to adopt them as a practical route to higher collection and recycling rates.
