Reloop, in collaboration with the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR), orchestrated a series of three webinars aimed at delving into the latest developments in packaging management within Europe, and extracting insights for Australia in the lead up to public consultation on packaging reforms.
In this second installment of the series, co-hosted by WMRR CEO, Gayle Sloan, and Reloop Pacific Director, Robert Kelman, Reloop’s Director of Circular Economy Development, Anna Larsson, delivered an extensive overview of EU-level policy changes concerning packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and EU waste directive, including targets for recovery and recycled content, and in particular how these policy changes influenced member state implementation and scheme design. We look at the approaches adopted by Romania and Poland in meeting these EU requirements, dissecting issues such as EPR scheme responsibilities and governance.
